Raw water pump

Would there be any reason to change the whole pump if everything is working. Or is just changing the impeller fine. The guy that I bought the boat from said that when you get it winterized that you should change the raw water pump. I am wondering if he just meant the impeller. What do you guys think?

Personally, I would wait until you de-winterize to change the impeller. Otherwise, you've got

your brand new impeller just sitting there all winter, cold and with the blades all crimped up on

one side. What's the point?

Oh, and I'm sure he meant to just change the raw water impeller. Unless, of course, the pump

housing is warped, cracked, or leaking for some other reason.

Very good point on that I will wait till i dewinterize it. Ya I am thinking that is what he meant. I am trying to figure out all the stuff that I want to do myself so I can save some $$$$ rather then the dealer doing it.
