thoughts on 09 step entry

While at the on the water dealer last week, walked into an 09 LSV. I was barefoot and really thought the soft foam used to cover the swim platform was a good idea. Though I was kind of concerned how it would hold up to fins etc being scraped against it.

I liked the molded in step in the transom, and the runner going to the cabin, but was kind of surprised to see it was not continued onto the center back seat.

Idea - instead of the useless cupholder that my 06 has how about a drop down step surface that protects the vinyl but can be folded up to keep the seating area.

Malibu may purchase the idea from me $1 mil or a new set of bindings, whatever they think is fair. Whistling.gif

I like the way you think, but rather than the new pair of bindings why not barter for a new boat?

I’m curious if that recessed step in the transom will make it even more difficult to change the impeller?

Malibudude...you are NOT allowed to become ANOTHER V-drive owner who complains all the time about how "hard" it is to change their impeller!

yeah - wife must have thought the same thing as she looked at me climbing around the 09. She asked if I still liked my 06. Answer was yes, would not be interested in a new one.

BTW - she pointed out the use of black vinyl on the interior would be awful warm sometimes.

I fixed my V drive it is now a very simple task to change the impeller.

I went down to the Bu dealer and bought a direct drive to go around it! FIXED!!!!!!!

exactly! people get the walkover to save their interior/vinyl but they still have to step on the seat to get in the boat. I emailed malibu about it and about maybe making something 1-off but got no reply :(

Not complaining but just a reality, it is more difficult than compared to a DD; then again so is changing the oil, fitting it in the garage, more time to clean etc. Will this drop down in the top deck affect one's ability to maneuver in that area of the engine box compared to with the '05-'08 stlye?

It's not so much the drop down from the step that's going to hinder people, it's the fact that the overall space is smaller. They took room from the rear of the boat to make the cabin a bit larger & it shows in how much room there is to maneuver around in the engine bay.
