CWB Wakeboards

Hey Guys and Gals...

I am looking to getting a new board. I am 6,0 / 255 lbs

I just started last year and needed a good beg. board and thats what I got... I ride the hyperlite Motive 144... I like the feeling of how its sticky in the water, but it seems too sticky at times, i am guessing it's that large fin in the middle of the board... I also noticed that it's slow wile edging towards the wake...

My next board I want to get is CWB... I havent herd one bad thing about them...I have been looking at the CWB pro mods.

I dont want to buy boards every year so I want this next board to last me...

Can anyones give me advice on these CWB boards and what Size to get....

- 08 CWB Marius Wakeboard

- 08 CWB Absolute Wakeboard

- 08 CWB Transcend Wakeboard

As for bindings I just got the 08 CWB Zues. now I just need a board to go with them...

Thanks in advance....

I rode a Motive for a couple of years. Very nice, versatile board...but when you land in the flats, it is like landing in the parking lot.

The Marius, and I think all Pro-CWB boards, land pillow soft due to the unique bottom shape. Even when you case the wake, it doesn't punish you like some boards, including the Motive. I ride the 07 Marius and do like it ALOT! Little "slower" relative to the other boards but am growing fond of the Marius, although (as most indicated it would) has taken a little bit to get used to it. But am certainly not pushing the limits of myself and/or the board...I just get out there and have a good time! I think CWB makes a great board, but not to say HL, LF, and others aren't great also....just according to what you like.

At your size (& please don't take offense), the biggest board you can find. My hubby is 235+ & rides a Liquid Force Witness 144 - great board, similar in attributes to the Absolute & big enough for him. They don't make it this year, but you may be able to find one leftover or on Ebay.

If you are really looking for a board to keep a while I would also consider the following - a hyperlite Murray or Marek.

I would get a 140+

Transcend is a great overall shape

I've got a transcend 142, and it's great. Grabs/carves to the wake nicely (which most slalom skiers prefer in a wakeboard). It reminds me a lot of the '05-'07 Byerly.

Buywake (long with many shops I'm sure) has them on sale right now.

I used to be a dedicated to hyperlite, and when I switched over to CWB, my riding didn't skip a beat. Both board lines are excellent.

WG, I may be misunderstanding your post but they do make an '08 Witness and they are not hard to find.

For the OP, I've ridden the Witness and really liked it too. I think I'll be getting a Lyman for next year when they go on sale (maybe a Monarch if there is a really good deal on one somewhere). I'm a little smaller than you at 6'2" 210. The Marek is a BIG board that I've not tried but it has received positive reviews.

I guess I had thought that they discontinued it, but that's good to hear. It's a good board & big enough for the big guys to ride at a more normal speed. Most of the big guys that I've been around that are on the 140-142 sized boards end up having to ride at 23-24mph to stay up on top of the water.

The Murry is what I'm buying but in a 140 but it's a $450 board, KSilva are you in any particular price range? Has anybody been on a Murry 144 and how does it compare to the other boards they have been on.

I have been on alot of boards, the last board being the CWB Flame. I loved the board and rode it for two years, till this year when i went to a Ronix Ibex. After riding the Ibex three or four sets getting use to it, my riding starting improving quickly! Ive never felt more pop then this board gives, and the landings are very soft. Us big guys need the soft landings of we will be looking for a new set of knees and a new lower back. IMO demo as many boards as you can and get the one that fits your riding style best. Dont settle for one board over another just for brand name.

Good luck

+1 for the 140 transcend! It's a great shape, soft landing board. It's pretty loose even with the fin extends in but locks really well when you put it on edge. I liked the absolute as well but have had more water time on the trans. I have not ridden the Marius.

For your weight/height, go with a 140 or bigger in whatever you get!

I was looking to spend about $550 for board and bindings. Since I got a GREAT deal with the bindings it leaves me some more money for the board... I guess I just have to demo some boards...

Take the center fins out. That's just a thought while you are waiting on your new board. I'm thinking the Motive had enough molded in fins to be fine, and most ride without the center fins after getting past the beginner stage anyway. Or if unsure on switch, just leave the fin in on the rear switched stance.

CWM makes great boards, but don't miss out on the new HL and LF boards also. Great stuff.

Plus1.gif If you do demo more boards and are not sure what rocker and fin design you want. Make sure to try the boards with and without the fins, you may find a board that does what you want without the fins so you can describe what you feel and what kind of riding you like to do.

Good Luck in your search!
