Trany Oil

Recommended Posts

Ok Crew,

Probably a stupid question but I cannot find the info anywhere.

When checking my trany oil should the boat be level? The motor and trany are at quite an angle.

Almost impossible to get the trany level.

I am going to change the trany oil tonight, just want to make sure that I get the right amount in.

ZF Hurth trany

Thanks,

Bondo

When you suck it out, I would measure how much you got out. I would add a little less than that then next time you take the boat to the water, bring some tranny fluid with you. Measure the fluid level after you've run the boat a bit and right after shut down. Only rest the dipstick in the hole to measure the level, don't thread the dipstick in.

I have some fluid in the boat, but if you have a good sucker you can get 95% out. I think your boat has the Borg Warner 1:1 which takes a quart of dextron... I put about 90% of the bottle in and water test.
