Oil Pressure

i have a 2000 vlx w/ monsoon engine. The oil pressure has been all over the place. ~60-70 at full throttle and 0-40 at idle. It seems to jump around under 1/2 throttle. The oil is not low. The motor is not running hot or bogging down. It is running great like always but it worries me when it drops. The boat has ~350h. Is this likely the sending unit? or something esle....

Oil Sending Unit (about $30 from SkiDim or Overton's). My oil gauge did the same until I replaced the sending unit last year. Now it's 30-40 @ idle & 60- 80 running depending on engine temp, RPM, etc.

Thanks for the response. I have read that you can add mechanical oil pressure guage when you replace the sending unit. Does this just involve adding a T fitting where the sending unit is? Add where can you order the mechanical guage from? I need way to directly monitor the pressure b/c i cant enjoy the lake if I cant quit worrying about the oil pressure
