Hard right turn

Recommended Posts

When cruising at any speed my Bu pulls hard to the right. I would assume some of this is normal because of prop rotation but it's pretty bad. If cruising at say 30mph and I let go of the wheel I'll be heading in the opposite direction within a few seconds. Can this be corrected and how?

At 30 MPH + you will notice increasing amounts of torque-steer. It is by design. If it is too much for your taste, as mentioned above, you'll need to grind the rudder.

The rudders are purposely "loaded" like that to provide better tracking and less of a sloppy feeling while steering. If you were to drive a boat that wasn't loaded at all it would have more of a feeling of an i/o at low speed - not good.

Unless it's really bad I'd leave it alone.

MLange, I've done it and disagree. Mine drives excellent. IMO, they mostly did this for ski boats to drive the course and as mine is an early V-drive it got a loaded rudder as well. The newer wakeboard boats don't have it and use pretty much the same steering systems. I will never drive a ski course so I'd rather have a boat that drives straight...........

Mlange, at everything but absolute flat-out it is completely unloaded. The other boat I drive/ride behind regularly is an 06 X-star and mine drives just as well as it does. Here is the thing, if you don't like the way it drives unloaded, regrind. You aren't taking much off in the first place. It took me three tries to get mine where I like it. All of you who are commenting have tried tuning your rudder, right? Your not just making comments on something you have never done, that would be a bit foolish, no?..................
