Slingshot gear?

Recommended Posts

chrisallenhogs

I got a buddy who is new to wakeboarding and has been riding a hyperlite of mine from the year 2002 or so. He rode a guys slingshot this weekend, obviously anything is better than my old board. He is dead set on slingshot now. I've always been a LF guy, does anyone know much about slingshot? How will it compare to the other big companies? I'm trying to get him to demo some boards but he doesn't want to do that.

Tell your buddy to watch whiskey militia as I have seen a couple of different slingshot packages on there for really cheap. If I knew more about them I may have bought one myself.

I rode two of the boards last year and they were fine. The landings were soft and they popped pretty good once you adjusted. I wasn't a fan of the overly complicated binding system that year, but they've changed it since and it looks better. If he wants slingshot, I'm sure it'll be fine. The only thing I worry about with new companies is warranty (should they go under or not be willing to help out) and if I need replacements, not everywhere has the brand available right now. Otherwise...go for it. I still ride my LF setup, those bindings and I just didn't get along.

Slingshot is big in Kiteboarding so I wouldn't worry about the warranty. I ride a Recoil and love it but agree about the bindings. I have the 08 PB Floyd bindings and miss the simplicity of my Transits. The 08 Slingshots take any binding, however............

Boarders Best Buy also has the Recoil at a good discount frequently. Great board! Lots of flex makes for good pop and really soft landings.

What is amazing is the price difference. Wakeboards go for $349 on average. Kiteboards go for $600 on average. Crazy.gif
