Samson mirror

I have searched all the mirror threads. It seems that the Samson mirror is the best/only way to go for the illusion X tower. I understand it has a quick release swing away arm. It looks like it would still hit the dash or steering wheel or window when the tower is folded down. Anyone have any photos of the tower folded with the Samson mirror installed?

Where is the best price online to by a Samson mirror? I have only found them at samsonsports.com

When folding down the tower you will need to remove the mirror arm. This is only held on with one bolt that has a handle. Some dealers have them but not sure off hand what one's.

Yes, the bracket does hit the dash when the tower is folded down. I ended up returning mine to the dealer for that reason and that the mirror itself was not adjustable as far as tilting up and down. At least on the one I had the center mirror was fixed.

So if understand that correctly, even with the arm removed at the quick release point, the mounted bracket hits the dash when the Illusion tower is folded down. So does everyone have this problem with the Samson mirror?

I purchased the Samson Mirror for my 08 VLX.

I keep my boat in a garaged storage unit where I have to lower my tower to get it through the door. I keep my boat covered at all times. I have to take the mirror off, and the bracket that is connected to my tower rests on my cover. It kinda sucks when having to put the boat away, but I like the mirror and how it looks. I will be going out this weekend. I can take some pictures for you if you'd like and show you how it works....Just let me know... Rockon.gif

I too store my boat in a garage with very low clearance. Right now with the tower folded down it clears the top of the garage door with a few inches to spare. With the tower folded down it rest on the left side edge of the driver’s dash. With the billet mirror arm disconnected at the quick release joint, it appears to still stick out 4" or so from the tower and would go right into the dash with the tower folded.

Is the mounting position flexible? Would it be possible to mount the mirror closer to the center of the tower so there is no interference with tower folded or would it obstruct the walkway to the bow in this position when the tower is up?

The boat cover is not an issue, I just don't want the mirror or any part of the bracket to be resting on the dash with the tower folded down.

I just moved the mounting bracket so when the tower is in the down position it doesn't contact the dash. The main "arm" of the mirror doesn't have to drop straight down from the mounting bracket to work. I swivel my arm all over the place.

No not true, the mount can be put in a place such that it does not it the dash, you do have to take the mirror arm off though. (VTX)
