Bad day

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I was crusing along at about 25mph when I noticed it was shallow and ended up on a sandbar. After an hour of pushing the boat off I found that my prop was really bent. We idled in and I took the prop to a prop repair shop. They said it was not fixable. So here are my questions:

1. Does anyone have a prop for sale?

2. What size prop should I use? 1999 sunsetter 320 monsoon

3. If the sandbar was SOFT sand and no rocks do you think that I should worry about any other components? I.E. shaft

4. Where is the cheapest place to buy a new prop?

Thanks for the help!

IT TAKES A PRETTY GOOD THUMPING. THE WAY THE PROPS ARE DESIGNED ON THOSE BOATS ARE THEY WILL TAKE MOST OF THE FORCE AND "FOLD UP". THAT IS ON PURPOSE SO YOU DON'T DO DAMAGE TO THE SHAFT. NOW IF YOU HAVE A STAINLESS PROP THEN THAT IS A DIFFERENT STORY. THE STAINLESS PROPS DON'T HAVE MUCH GIVE TO THEM AT ALL AND THEREFORE DON'T ABSORB THE FORCE LIKE SAY AN ACME PROPELLER WOULD. HOPE THIS HELPS

Can't help with the prop but you may want to remove the impeller and see if you sucked up a bunch of sand or mud through the water intake. Sand/mud should work its way through but if it clogs your impeller the prop will be the least of you problems.

Skier-To-Skier carries OJ props. A good "do everything" prop would be an OJ XMP Edge 13 X 12 three blade CNC'd prop. Thumbup.gif Skier-To-Skier will have the best price and for some reason OJ props cost less than ACME but are every bit as good. I have had one on my Sporty for years and have had zero problems. Call or e-mail Max at S-2-S he'll make recommendations based on your specific boat and how you use it. Edited by NorCaliBu

I have a 2000 SSi. I just replaced the prop with an ACME 525 best move I made. Cleaned up the wake, much better whole shot. If you just want a prop that was original I have the SS 13x13 three blade that was the original.PM for a cheap price. Not a bad prop at all but research told me the best prop for that boat was the 525.
