VTX vs. V-Ride

What are the main differences between these two models? I know length and beam are slightly different but besides that is it mainly bling or what?

EDIT: Meant to say V-Ride.

Did you mean vRide or iRide? The VTX is a 20' long, 98" wide v-drive that is only two years old, while the iRide is a 21' long, 93.5" wide direct drive that is essentially 12 years old. Not exactly a fair comparison.

I have an 05 Vride & ride with a guy who has an 08 VTX. Differences are enough that they look a lot different, but don't ride a lot different, if that makes any sense. Both boats drive, accelerate, and turn great. And both boats have nice wakes with their stock ballast.

The VTX has the throttle by wire, nicer billet steering wheel, 08 switch panels on the dash, Malibu Cruise with the saved rider settings, heated drivers seat, bigger glovebox, 1200 lb MLS with bow tank, more billet emblems & trim, etc. And the VTX is probably about $20k more.

The Vride has the old Perfect Pass, much more simple steering wheel (Grant "leather" 3 spoke), old school switches on the dash, driver's seat with bolster, 900 lb MLS, smaller glovebox but also has 2 cup holders by it. It compares well to almost every boat out there..... except the newest Malibus, which blow it away.

The Wedge is something we don't use at all so I'm not sure what is available on each boat. My Vride has the old fixed mount angle wing...... sitting in the garage for the day the boat goes up for sale.

But some of these things could be due to the year difference too.

The VTX is a 'current generation/new hull', while the Ride series is the 'previous generation' hull packaged into a 'value' boat.

The 05-08 V-Ride is based on the 96-04 Sunsetter/Wakesetter (and others) SV23 wake hull.

The 09 V-Ride will be based on the 05-08 Wakesetter VLX hull.

There are option and 'Bling' differences too - see Bill's post. The Ride series are great boats and would be everything you need, just not necessarily everything latest & greatest you might want.

The VTX is 5" or so wider, which doesn't seem like much but helps make the interior feel much more roomy than the V-Ride.

The vRide will be VERY similar to your current boat, just in a v-drive configuration. The VTX is a brand new model, and as such includes all of the performance, construction and features improvements Malibu has added over the last 10 years.

You really need to check out the two boats in person. If you do that the differences will be obvious. The difference in price will also be apparent, and given that the vRide is a fantastic boat, it may not be worth the extra money to you for the VTX.
