Applying decals...

Recommended Posts

Anybody no the recipy to make decal application spray? (Sticker-on equivalent) I heard that it can be done with just water and dish detergent but I don't know what the ratio would be. Has anybody ever made some? Dontknow.gif

As far as application goes, just add a drop of dish soap to a qt. of water and mix it. Once you install the sticker, let it sit overnight before you remove the backing paper. Watch this video.

I don't really think the ratio is all that important. I'm not even sure I put any soap when I did mine. It's not like you are making the equivalent of a glue or anything. The only purpose of the soap/water is to allow you to throw the graphic on the boat without it sticking immediately where you put it. You can slide it around until you have it exactly where you want it, squeegee all of the air bubbles out from under it, and once the water dries, the adhesive that was originally on the decal with hold it in place. It's just like window tint.

Thanks, nice video. Only one thing I find strange... the use of a level... it's useless unless your floor is leveled to. Unless the level is simply used as a straihgt edge to make sure the decal is on straight. Dontknow.gif

C'mon Dan, are you kidding me?

In the video, aren't they applying the lettering to a window of a building?

Wouldn't you want the lettering to be straight and level on the window?
