Props for RLXI

The other night I was out pulling the kids on there wakeboard and kneeboards. As we were heading in for the night I run WOT to clear it out a little. I don't run it at WOT very often because the lake I am on is only 200 acres. My top end speed, on the speedo, was 48MPH but my RPM were only reaching 4700-4800. The boat was not load at all. In fact I only had a 1/4 tank of gas. I am running the stock ACME 13x12 prop. I know the RPM range is 4800-5200 on my Monsoon. I live in the Milwaukee, WI area so not that much above sea level. Has anybody switched props from the stock? If so what prop and what did you gain? The 13x11.5 would get me more RPMs but would I lose top end?

Having a 2007 RLXi with the same top RPM/Speed I guess that they are actually hitting the rev limiter, and are probably set this way by Malibu/Indmar.

The was a tread here a while ago about top speed, I did not see any post go beyond the 4800 mark.

But of course I might be wrong.

The barefooters often prefer the 13x12.675 that will get more top end speed.

I'm about to do a little testing between the 515 (12 pitch) and 525 (11.5 pitch) I'll be sure to check back in after we figure out the difference.

FWIW Boat will run faster with a full tank. I know it sound bass ackwards. The heavier weight in the back lifts the nose of the boat and decreases the wetted surface which results in less drag. In tournaments with the old perfect pass classic I had to reduce rpm (offset) to get the desired speed by 30 to 40 rpms on a full tank. As fuel is used you lower the offset to get actual times.

Weight(people) in the nose/front on a low tank will result in more drag and lower speeds. Like an offshore racing boat, they trim up to get virtually all of the boat out of the water.
