Boat will not turn off

Recommended Posts

I have a friend that has a 2005 wakesetter with a monsoon engine and it will not turn off, he has to disconnect the battery to make it turn off. He replaced the key switch and the starter so can anyone help him

thanks

If the key switch is not the problem, then it sounds like your ECM (or as some call it, the EFI) relay is sticking in the run position.

Speaking of lanyards, I thought it was a Coast Guard regulation to have a lanyard on all boats. Every boat _other_ than my 07VLX has a lanyard. Either I'm blind as a bat, or they forgot to put one on my boat.

On the panel below your throttle, there should be a housing sticking out. Under this is the kill switch. Perhaps your lanyard didn't come attached to it?

The 07's didn't have them....what a great year it was, no flippin 2-3 hour service calls (round trip) to replace a kill switch and hear the owner say "You're already done?".

The 08's have the nicer kill switches the rest of the boating world uses.
