Blown motor update

Recommended Posts

On Tuesday my dad and I pull the motor out of my boat. (surprisingly easy, it took more time rigging the lift chain to the shop rafters than actually pulling the motor). Our mechanic took the heads off the other day and had them pressure tested, and they came back fine, and the pistons and the block are fine (mechanic says the inside of the motor is in exstreamly good shape for an 88). The only thing he could find was a blown gasket between the exhaust and the motor. He can't quite figure how water got in from there, but he cannot find anything else.... so he is going to put it back together and we will cross our fingers. The marine gaskets are still pretty expensive, but it sounds like the worst case scenario was avoided.... I hope I have not spoke to soon...
