steering arm rubbing

Has anyone experience with the steering arm rubbing on the rubber exhaust tube that leads to the outside of the boat. My has been rubbing and looks like it is going to put a hole in it. I have a 96 Malibu Response closed bow 320 moonson motor.

My boat did/does that. I made a spacer to spread the exhaust slightly.

Zip tie with screw washer Zip it and pull where you need and screw it in with some marine adhesive. I believe the Fibecs is on the side or near the exhaust you can screw it in there, just not the bottom hull. To be safe use a short screw.

I fixed the problem last night and it didn't take to long. What I did was took the hose clamp off the rubber tube and drilled a hole through it (hose clamp) and fasten it to the boat beside the muffler and tighten the hose clamp back up and it moved the muffler over about 3/4 of inch just enough the for the arm to miss it by 1/2 inch. If I wouldn't have done this it would have put a hole in it. Blowen exhaust inside the boat wouldn't be good. Also part of the problem was that malibu ran the fuel lines beside the muffler and push it over about 3/4 of inch.
