Boat is very doggy

Recommended Posts

I have a 1986 skier and I just had a different engine put in because there was water in the oil of the old one. The new engine does not have the same get up and go as the previous engine. I can get the rpm's up in high idle but once you throw it into gear the rpm's will not get up there. Anybody with any ideas?

My guess is poor timing with a new motor....

Why? Do you think he should have replaced it before the water in the old one? Or waited for a good sale on new motors? What a punk.

Thats funny!!

Assuming the motor is the same or better then the old one, i would start with fuel, and ignition. If there are no problems there then look at alignment issues. If there are no problems there, start making sure your motor is what it was said to be!

is the motor the same cu in?

does it have the same comp?

are the heads the same?

is the cam the same?

lots of things to look at.

Likely not the issue, but how is the alignment of the drive shaft?
Thanks for the feedback. We adjusted the screws on the carb and we also adjusted the timing, runs like a champ.

His next recommendations were going to be to adjust the drivers seat and possibly try a different brand of sunscreen. Crazy.gif

I think you've ALL screwed the pooch on this one. . .after all, he said his boat was doggy.

You're not supposed to get a new motor rated in DP. Those are not as strong as HP.

Oh, and Justin, the '86 Skier didn't have a walk through window, so :biteme:
