winterizing

Recommended Posts

Malibu in Merced winterized my 2001 vlx for me, this being the first and only time I have ever had it done. I don't really need to. But in un winterizing, they gave me a baggie of hose clamps and some kind of sensing modual. I have re-connected all the hoses, but have no idea what this sensing modual is. It has a part number on it...10456126, or 5260-2f. Can anybody help me? Timt

My thoughts are they are your knock sensors that go into the drain plug mounts on the bottom of the engine. I have dealt with many new malibu's myself. I know that they come from the factory with the house clamps and knock sensors in a bag. These are all 02 plus, but I wouldn't think there would be a difference in an 02 from a 01 in the engines considering they are still indmar. Hope that helps.

Do I replace it, or did they? It does look. How do I get to it? Tim

The sensor is most likely the knock sensor. The sensor is located on the side of the engine, midway, just above where the oil pan bolts on. Not sure which side yours is on. Both sides of the engine have a hole the sensor will thread into. The other side will just have a plug. Look for the sensor wire hanging .

I found mine on the passenger side. There is a hole on the drivers side, with no plug? Supposed to be one? Tim
