Monsoon Propeller Choice

I have a 1997 Response Lx with 320 hp Monsoon engine. I use this boat for barefooting. would like to know what propellers other footers are using. Want to get maxium top end speed with out loosing too much torque and drop in speed with skier in tow.

I have used 13X14 4 blade got 46mph no skier but dropped 2-3 mph with skier. My 13x13 3 blade s.s. was running good before I had it recondition.

Any suggestions on a new prop. Please give me info on

Boat used

max mph and rpm no skier

max mph and rpm with skier

crew weight

prop used size and cup and brass or s.s. manufactor

suggestions

Any Nor Cal footers interested in skiing at a private site, want to improve your footing skills, test your ability in a novice to open tournamrnet, let me know.

I have the ACME 13x12.675 on my Sanger and that is the prop that my friend had on his 97 echlon lx with the monsoon and it had good whole shot and good top end speed.

You can call ACME and they will tell you what prop would work as well 1-888-661-ACME

I'll second the acme suggestion. We pitched ours down from oj 13x13 to an ACME 525 (13x11.5). Gained a TON on the bottom end, and with the .080 cup, didn't lose anything on the top. Boat is a 96 Sunsetter LX with 265 Magnum Ski.

I know it doesn't parallel to your situation, but I think that a cupped three-blade acme in a pitch similar to what you're running should help out the top end. I'd also pass on the stainless as if you hit an obstruction, something's going to give, and the prop is the quickest and cheapest part to repair/replace. Stainless doesn't give.

Call ACME and ask what they recommend. You should know your WOT RPM with any prop you've had on it.

My best guess is you're gonna want a 3 blade, NOT 4, likely a 13x12.625. They can also customize a prop for you depending on your specific needs.

ACME has a lot of new props out to fit most every one's needs. Give Jim a call and let him know what boat you have, your current prop, speed 20,30,36,40 and WOT at X RPMS for each.

Thanks for the info. We also run a Acme 13x12.625 on the Sanger we ski on. Tried this prop on my boat, work good would of like alittle more top end. I have been keeping records of WOT rpm ext. on all the props I try on both boats. My S.S. came on the boat originally I thought Malibu put the S.S. on because they were having too much flex issues with the brass prop due to the high torque of the Monsoon.

Will call Acme when I get all the Props tested with the rpm info.

My power band is 4800 to 5200 rpm, I have been trying to keep the prop rpm around 5000 to 5200.

I'd guess something between 13x12 and 13x11.5, but with .100 cup. This gives you better hole shot and still has top end.
