I've heard of them. I've never seen one. But, I've also heard that they're a PITA.

It would be really nice to have two of those for the bote. People at our dock have had gas stolen before, some more than once. So far, we have been lucky, but with gas prices being what they are, leaving the boat on the lift is a risk.

There has to be an automotive cap that would cross over, no matter how ugly...

I am considering this one from TankLock:

or THIS one I found on eBay

In my searching I also found this somewhat interesting suggestion on the Houseboat forum

I pulled the filler hose off the tanks, placed these over it and replaced the hose....Stainless steel and large enough to not restrict the flow when filling, but small enough to not let a hose go thru

Gas%20Saver.jpg

Which led me to THIS commercial solution.

I have a tank lock on one of my boats. I does work, but it is very expensive. A lot of Malibu's would require 2 - but I guess 50 gal at 4.00, 2 is still less then a tank full.

Hehe, I like this suggestion:

.... leave a 5 gal gas can on deck somewhere, with about 4-1/2 gals of sea water and maybe a pint of gas on top.

I’m not a fan of locks. We had them at our company for two vans parked outside. One had a cap lock and one didn’t. Both vans had the gas stolen. The van with lock was damaged during during gas gap “removal”.

Let em take the gas, it’s better than screwing up your boat at the same time.

I really like the salt water gas can thingy, just don’t forget which can it is...
