cleaning off hard water stains

topic says it all I usually use pledge but it isn't working you literally have to scrape it off any suggestions would be appreciated. would wax and a buffer work??

1st, make sure you have a good coat of wax on the boat.

When I think of hard water I think of acid ... make sure it's a really weak acid. Vinegar comes to mind, maybe 50/50 with soft water. Then again I think this will remove some of your existing wax.

Anything strong enough to remove the hard water spots is also going to remove your wax so once your done you will be rewaxing the boat. There are a number of threads about the solution...50% hydrogen peroxide 50% Lysol toilet bowl cleaner. Tony's Topical Toxic something or other...searching the word "toxic" should yield some reading material for you.

Thats it....

You may need to put a fresh coat of wax on then use the two items mentioned above during the season....

I've never had the need to try it but the old timers on this site swear by the mixture Nor Cal Bu described.
