Power Inflator Recommendations

I am looking for a good, fast, power inflator to use on the Bu for towables (please resist the urge to slam me - my kids are young and the towables get them into watersports until they can do something involving real skill).

So far it is easy to find fast 12V inflators that have battery clips but not too many with the cigarette adapter. The best looking one I have seen is the "Majic Air" inflator.

Does anyone have experience with this one or a recommendation for another one? I am looking for a unit I can leave on the boat and use to inflate and deflate towables as rapidially as possible.

I've been using a cheapo from Meijers for years. It was only $10. It's yellow, has 3 adapters and can be used to fill and deflate. Plugs into cig. lighter and is fast. We take it with us camping, too.

I've been using this one from wal-mart $35. It has the battery clips though so it may not be what you want. I certainly didn't want to have to connect it to the battery every time I use it and the cord is long enough that I ran it through the gunnel and keep it connected all the time and it just stores in the side gunnel. Easy to get to and it does an outstanding job, super fast and high pressure!. Anyway that's how I do it.

I have an Airhead as well that I found online somewhere but it has the lighter plug. Works great...

Regardless of the one you buy, when you first get it open the cigarrette adapter up and find out what kind of fuse it takes. Then go buy a six pack of them to keep on the boat.

Nothing will get you a boat full of disappointed kids faster than getting to the middle of the lake, starting to inflate your towable, and the fuse in the inflator blows.

Been there, Done that, now carry 6 extra fuses...

I can't take the whining that some of those hand held inflaters make. I bought the orange 12v inflater from the Overtons catalog. It's the one that looks like an old canister type vacuum. I mounted it to the back of the rear seat (v-drive boat), but you can't even see it from the storage locker because there is a carpeted wall in there that keeps the ballast bags, etc. in place. I wired it & mounted a toggle switch uo above the side cup holders. The hose stuffs back in the side behind the cup holders so you just reach back & grab it & flip the switch. You really can't even hear it if the stereo is playing low.

If you're relatively handy, you could buy this at Radio Shack and just cut off the battery clips and wire it to this empty plug. Then, carry six fuses as rts says.

What did you wire it to?

That's a good question. I don't remember. I might have attached it right to the Perko switch, since it was real close, or to that stud up by the computer that has battery power. I know I did not run it all the way to the battery. I did put an inline fuse in the lead going to it.
