Hey All,

I am casually looking at a 2000 Malibu Escape 23LSV to replace a 99 Sunsetter v-drive. My kids pretty much wakeboard now with the ocassional tube ride.

Just wondering if anyone could give me their thoughts on this boat ?

Thanks

I have this boat and I love it! I think a lot of people would say that it's not the best wake shape for boarding but we all do fine with it. We have 2 young kids and most of our time is not really spent boarding but cruising/tubing, some surfing & hanging at the beach. There's a ton of room for hanging out which we love and if & when we upgrade we couldn't get a smaller boat after this one.

What do they know???

Size is important.....wake that is. Thanks for the input

Dave, I also have this boat and I love it. I'm an avid wakeboarder and the wake is great for me. You will have to weight the boat more than other boats however, because of the diamond hull. I have a Fat Sac (750#) on each side of the engine, and a 600# Sac in the Locker. I weigh 220 and can pull 4-5 inverts and a few spins and it works great for me. This boat was, after all, the original Wakesetter. The nice thing is, you can empty the weight and you have an awesome ski wake and a huge cruising boat. Thumbup.gif

Mine's pretty much the same boat ... And I agree with everyone above. Not the best wakeboard wake, good surf wake (properly weighted), lots of room. I don't think I'd get a smaller boat now, after having this one.

EDIT: I should probably point out that we're very satisfied with our boat.

That boat was NOT the original wakesetter. Personally I never really liked the wake on this boat. No matter how much weight you added it never got the right shape to it. Personally I would rather have your 99 VLX.

Ok thanks everyone.

What would you recommend as "the next step up" from a 99 sunsetter with auto ballast 2-440's in the back and a 360 in the locker?

The two things i would be looking for is larger wake size, and alittle larger boat? I am not adverse to looking at another manufacturer but I would prefer to stay with a Malibu !

Thanks
