Fixed broken door.

The door that came from the factory is really a POS. Mine was cracked and sagging. I could not get the carpet off in one piece, so I made a new door out of 1/2" marine plywood and cut some diamond plate and covered it. It works for me and now I can haul fatties without the worry of one of them busting through.

Looks good, but you'd better keep a bucket of water handy. That diamond plate could get hot in the sun.

Once you have walked through burning coals everything else is easy. Thumbup.gif

I did think of that so I left it out in the sun in the boat for a few hours. I then used my infrared heat thermometer and discovered that it was the same temperature as the SS front rails. I then came to the conclusion that your feet will be subjected to the same temperature as your hands if you step on the door or grab the rail...... It is a chance I am willing to take.

I had mine replaced by the dealer. Malibu knew they had an issue and the new hatch is slightly different.

I just bought mine last month. The door was broke when I got it. I wished the original owner would have fixed it and saved me a few hours of screwing with it. I did call my local dealer and asked them if they had a replacement door and they told me to bring it in and their guys would fix it. I asked them if I could just buy a new door and that said they no.
