Acme 537 question

Recommended Posts

Looking at picking up a new prop for my VLX and I have heard this one is a great choice. I only use the boat for boarding/surfing and I can't think of 3-5 times in the last 5 years where we have really cruised. Loss of top end isn't a concern. I do however want to make sure this is a good choice. The Acme tech support line suggested it. Also, does anybody know if I will pick up much in the way of fuel economy?

Not sure what year your boat is or what hull you have, but here's a post I made a while back comparing the 537 to a stock prop on my SS VLX. You should see similar results. Can't answer about fuel consumption. My guess though is that it may use more. All depends on your rpm's. But in a nutshell, with the 537 it is true that for a given rpm your boat will run slower. However, top end WOT speed loss is negligible because your motor will spin the 537 faster than the stock 381. At least that's my experience with the Monsoon.
