Saltwater use?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have had to use my boat in saltwater lately; once I am done I always hook up the garden hose to flush it out. Does this completely flush out the engine and all compartments where the saltwater would have traveled? What about heater core?

Thanks

Reggie

yes it does. make sure you run it long enough so that the engine temp is high enough to open the thermostat. If you are going to continue to use it in the salt, install a system like a guardian which completely flushes the system. there is also another system that i saw on TV (but can't remember the name) that actually flushes a chemical through the system.

hopefully you have a good aluminum or galvanized trailer. no matter how well you flush a painted steel trailer, it is not going to last in salt.
