water doesn't drain from open bow

Recommended Posts

'04 Response LX. We got lots of rain in he last couple days, and I didn't have the cover on. Boat was on the trailer, so no big deal. I pulled the plug and let all the water run out, but there is a couple inches of water that wouldn't come out of the bow. Tried tipping the trailer some, but the water just moved back into the storage area under the observer's seat. I ended up scooping it out with a cup!

Is this supposed to drain somewhere? Seems like the water should be able to make it down to the bilge and drain plug on its own. Could it be plugged, or is this really a design flaw?

Usually it will drain down into the bilge eventually, however I had to scoop out water from there if we took a wave over the bow or whatever.

Moral of the story...keep the cover on your bu' and you'll be all set.

ICBW, but i think i remember seeing a small tube (less than 1/4 inch diameter) that goes from one of the sides down into the bilge. it could be plugged. I know the one that goes from the drivers well to the bilge always gets plugged on my RLX. I usually have to stick a wire down there every once in awhile.

Shop vac would have been more work to setup than the gatorade cup that was sitting on a shelf! I'm going to go look for the drain tube tonight and see if I can find one. That would make the most sense. The interior was redone before I bought it, so I am hoping they didn't just cover it up.
