Engine Misfire

Recommended Posts

In my older boats I have always run 180 degree thermostats, it doesn't hurt them to run at 170+ I don't know what Malibu uses from the factor for those engines and that year. The dealer should know or maybe you can find it in the manual?

What was the purpose of running 180 degrees? Not trying be a smart a$$. I just don't know. I ordered the thermostat from a local dealer and specified 160. Should I change the order

I did pull the breather off the carb and it was very dirty. I wonder if the engine was starved of air thus causing it to losa power ? I blew it out with air yesterday and had an oily film in the breather.. Dontknow.gif

Ran the boat yesterday with no problems at all.. I guess cleaning the breather was the problem. I am still going to install the thermostat when it gets in....

Thanks,

Good to hear. Just watch your temps that first trip out after the stat install.

Will do. Thanks for all the advice
