engine overheated

Recommended Posts

I have a friend that his malibu monsoon engine overheated this weekend and it burned a hole in the exhaust rubber tube just past the manifold , has anyone ever heard of this, anyway is it hard to take that tube off and put on another one. Has anyone ever done this and if so do you have some tips on how to do it,

thanks

if it no good, cut it off. i am in the middle of replacing my manifolds and risers (a very fun job by the way, most of the bolts have to be grinded off), and that hose does come off if you take the riser off, but i wouldn't do that, then you'd have to replace the gasket.

It is not a complicated job, just requires lots of brute force, a little grease or simmilar on the mating parts helps.

But don't put too much stress on the elbow's that go into the mufflers, those crack pretty easy.

Make sure you replace the impeller and inspect all other hoses for damage.

You should also replace the plastic 90 DEG elbows that supply water to the exhaust manifolds, once they overheat they become brittle and will fail soon after.
