Steering cable connection to rudder

Recommended Posts

I'm helping a friend replace the steering cable on her '03 LXi. I've searched and found many posts on how to do it, pretty simple. I've done it on Nautiques before. What I cannot seem to figure out is how to access the connection from the cable to the rudder. I assume there is an easier way than pulling the gas tank....

Pull open the stuffing box access area behind the motor box, and it is under the tank. I hope you have long arms....

BTW if you don't have a set of ratcheting wrenches, time to get some.

What he said. It is a bit of a pain reaching under there, but nowhere near the pain of pulling the tank.

Well if steering cables were fun to replace, everyone would be doing it.
