Have you tried contacting PP directly? Their CS is awesome and I would think they shoud have some good info on the upgrade.

Mine is located inside the upper left hand coner of the gauge pod. To get in, it's just one phillips screw (on the top side of the guage trim) and 2 torx screws holding the malibu logo just above the steering wheel. There are access holes there that make it easy to wire.

On my 07 I put the puck just in front of the windshield and ran the wire back under the windshield and thru the gauge pod using the above method but my 08 puck is hidden from site. I surprised it will work that way.

I gotta couple questions...is the stargazer upgrade comparable to zero off? I know my boat isn't compatable with zero off but I thought about doin stargazer if its comparable. also as far as your mounting location...would you want it like you would do in your vehicle. by that I mean in your truck or whatever you hve to have the mount it on the highest part of the vehicle because if there is any metallic surface above it , it can cause interference. if its the same for the boat...wouldn't the best place be on the tower?

Yes StarGazer and Zero Off are both speed control systems that use GPS, they go about it differently. As far as the GPS receiver location with StarGazer, "The GPS Receiver can be installed flat on the dash board looking up through the wind screen (Also OK on the dash on a slight angle looking up through windshield). As long as the receiver has a clear unobstructed view of the sky, it will work properly."

I mounted mine in front of the windshield.
