prop rotation direction?

Recommended Posts

I agree with Vette Ski, whitlecj, and txwakejunkie....however I know Jack is full of it and I don't agree with his answer.

My understanding is that it is LH

... why do you need to know? WTH cares? Maybe you could try running a RH prop, and just run the boat in reverse everywhere. That'd be an interesting experiment

Bent the prop all to hell on the trailer and needed a replacement. Just ordered one the pitch is a little high 14x18.5 but with the 8.1 i'm hoping that it will save a little on gas with some sacrifice to the hole shot, but for $200 for a new one it's worth the experiment....

Thanks all for the answers!

Bobby

And the place you bought the prop from didn't know which rotation Malibu uses? I thought all the suppliers knew that?

How the heck did you bend the prob on the trailer? I thought that was pretty much impossible with the guide posts.

The girlfriend was putting the boat on the trailer and somehow missed the bow stop. I didn't know the bow stop could be missed.

I've had a boat previous to this one and it had a 350 and I was always wanting more power so I just decided to go overboard and not have to worry about power anymore. I was always trying to get more power out of the last one. The thing is nuts I'd reccommend it to anyone it pulls hard with full ballasts, wedge, and 10 people. However, it does eat some SERIOUS gas. I'm thinking about having 2 props, one for just playing around and going to the party cove and the other to board with.

Is it true that ALL Malibu props are LH? Even if the engine is in backwards Crazy.gif (V-Drives)? Now that I think about it... the transmission is spinning the same in either case; the v-drive just chages the direction of the shaft (not the rotation). Am I correct here?

Chime in if in fact ALL malibu props are NOT LH.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Well, since the engine is in backwards, the crankshaft and primary transmission are turning the wrong direction but the V drive tranny straightens that out.

If only the vdrive tranny could straighten out the fact that the motor is in the wrong place!

btw, you guys have waaaaaaaaay too much time on your hands! Biggrin.gif

yet another indication of how very crappy the weather is this summer.

Nah, that was way back at the beginning of May. Even before our throttles blew up and stuff. ;)

Shouldn't you be out skiing or something right about now? Oh yeah, that's right, once you realized you weren't any good you decided to sell your tractor. Crazy.gif

Skied this morning. :) The wind has picked up now and there are a bunch of Jack's...er, I mean, Wallies, out on the water. :( I hate holiday week-ends.
