LCD Switch - 08 Malibu

Recommended Posts

Installing my heater and determining where I will get power and install my control switch. Upon looking under the dash, I noticed the power distribution / fuse block assembly has a power output termination point defined for the heater.

When scanning through the currently configured LCD switch controls, I do not see one defined as this heater control, so my questions are;

Can I use this "heater" termination (fused output) as the switched power to my heater though an LCD switch?

Can the LCD switch control for the heater be programmed to add the heater control?

I suspect that a LCD switch is programmed when the heater is factory installed. If this can be programmed in, it would make for a really clean install.

Can someone with a factory installed heater confirm their heater power control is on the LCD switches?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, it is on the LCD. It has high, low, and off for the heater.

I'm not sure if the switch panels will automatically detect if you have a load connected to the heater position on the distribution block and automatically add that function to the switches. I think you'll probably need to have your dealer enable that function on the switch plate.

on a tour of the tn plant i was told the lcds where programed at the factory . someone on this web site awhile back said the right combo of hitting the button would bring up more fuctions you could add.

Your dealer will program it to show up on the screen.

Some dealers make sure to remove all the "switches" that aren't being used, some don't really do anything.

Either way, dealer can add the switch without too much effort.

i heard you can move buttons from side to side, have multiple locations for the same thing, delete or add buttons, etc. I've spent a little time with them and really like the idea/concept/design of the new dash personally.
