Adding weight to VTX

Recommended Posts

I purchased my 07 VTX without a bow ballast. I am looking to add weight to the front and some more in the back. I have 220 lbs of steel that I am putting in the bow but was wandering if anyone had any input on how much I should add in the rest of the boat. Any feedback would be great. Thanks

Take a look at how a VTX with bow ballast is installed. The weight is displaced around the perimeter. My concern would be the bouncing motion that the bow takes thru rough water.

I have a VLX without the bow ballast and purchased some pop bags (pop-products.com). The are 40# bags that have steel chips inside. I can get three on each side of the bow, I slide them as far back as possible so you don't even see them. They form to the shape of the boat because of the small chips. I also purchased an integrated bow sac (Pro X fat Sac) for under the bow seats.

The other weight in the boat is all personal preference but i have a set of v drive sacs and the 750# fat sac for surfing.

Have fun with the new boat. Post some pics.
