How do I attach my boom/advice for a new boat owner

Hi everyone. I have been a skier all my life, and just bought my first boat. It is an '86 Sunsetter. It came with a boom, but I believe there is something missing.

It has the full boom, and the cables that would attach to the front, and I assume that it is supposed to attach to the pylon somehow, but it didn't come with any hardware to do that. What do I need, and where can I get it?

My family always had a boat growing up, but this is my first experience owning an inboard. I would love to hear any advice people might have for me, especailly as far as maintenance is concerened.

Thanks in advance for you responces.

Sounds like you're missing the boom clamp. Do you know what brand of boom it is? If not and you can post a picture of the boom I'm sure we could tell you.

See if the boom has a name on it, or you can post a picture and someone on here can tell you. There has to be something to place on the plyon.

Good choice in boats, I had a 86 Sunsetter till last yr, Great boat an fun.

Ditto on above and Welcome.gif

Lots of good info on the site. You can use the search function for specific topics and/or start a thread with a topic of interest.

I just bought a used boom for my boat, and it came with the wrong size clamp for my boat. If you happen to have a 3" pylon, get a hold of me. Your boat is the same year as mine though, so it probably has a 2.5" pylon.
