It is usually sold by the kitchen or bathroom cleaning supplies at any grocery store. They come in a small box.

i just bought some myself , it seems my almost two year old doughter thought the boat seats stored in the house would be a good place to draw with a ball point pin. I hope the magic works !

They do work great on the vinyl. Some have had problems w/ them discoloring, but I use them all the time and they are "magical" Don't quite know how they work, but you only use them w/ water and they get things off that many other "tougher" cleaners just will not remove. Two tips, lots of elbow grease and they don't last long so buy many of them. You will be pleased w/ what they do Yes.gif

Be careful. If you scrub to hard on one area it can take the color of the vinyl out with it. Just be gentle and it will clean most stains. We even had felt marker on a cream colored leather couch and it took it out great.

So you have one less kid now? Sounds like you better keep better track of your perminent marking tools. You wouldn't leave poisn in their reach... a ball point pen on my seat cushins would have the same long term impact on the kid ;)

I'm with you on the spelling, but still too much of a noob around here to get out the torch. Dontknow.gif Maybe once I break 100 posts...

Oh yeah, back to the breath mint, uhhh, that's magic eraser. Great product to keep around the house, too. The window washers said the marks on the wall, right below the cupola windows, weren't from their ladders. That's another story. The Magic Eraser cleaned it right up for 5 minutes of elbow grease instead of repainting the walls. Which the window guy said he'd be willling to charge us to paint.

I don't think Magic Eraser has any cleaning solution in it. It is merely a very mild abrasive pad that will take a stain away without damaging the wall, vinyl or whatever it is you are using it on. However, because is is slightly abrasive, too much pressure will damage whatever it is you are using it on.

works great to get the marks off the hull where the bow roller nudges and

ski marks on the transome, too.

don't get too much elbow grease involved, it is a little bit abrasive.

Magic Erasers are Da-Bomb for tough to clean stains.

However, for the ball point pen, my wife had great success on her car's fabric upholstery with hair spray. It lifted the pen right out. A light cleaning afterwards and the upholstery was good as new.

Try it on an inconspicuous spot first to make sure it won't damage the vinyl when applied directly.

Well, that was in the house. But trust me, she got a little something from mom for that one! Still not sure how a 3 year old can pick up & open a brand new, full paint can. Dontknow.gif

I just picked up the Wipe-Out eraser at the boston boat show and the wipe out eraseris thicker, bigger, and more dense then any of the magic erasers

i've used in the pass. The wipeout eraser does not shred apart cuz it has a layer that holds it together and it works with a 3m handle that helps it

fade away evenly so it doesn't rip apart like the magic eraser. I love it!!!!

I love magic erasers! Some people on WW claim they can be too much like sandpaper and bad for your vinyl, but I've been using them for years. For really tough stains I use acetone. Your have to be VERY careful because it basically melts the stain/vinyl away. For your red or pink or pen stains, it works well, just have to be careful.

If you think they so safe try one on your gelcoat and see what it does, the damage is much more apperent on darker colors. You might change your mind about them when you see what they do.

I'm well aware of what they do to the gelcoat. I sometimes use them to remove black scuff marks on my white gelcoat. You just can't scrub too hard  Although, acetone works better and is safer on gelcoat.....
