Blown motor

I recently blew my motor in my 05 VLX with 175 hours on it. I also broke the pressure plate or whatever that thing is and my V- drive was empty. It was under warranty and Roy at Ultimate here in Vacaville is taking care of everything wrong.

Ok to my questions. What have you experienced on engine changes under warranty? Do they flash the ECM and go back to zero hours, or change it out? I was told they keep a log and you keep original hours. Would it be too much for me to ask him to do that? He does everything I ask of him and I don't want to bother him with something else. I just don't want to sell it one day and explain to the consumer the motor and everything was changed out. My first boat I purchased was like this. I was told the shop left it running and there was a new motor so it only had 100 hours. The hour guage said 950 hours. Just seems like the value would decrease at that point.

Anyway props to my buddy roy as a service department manager. Thumbup.gif

Are you sure the motor was blown. a 05 vlx is bad about the drive plate exploding. when it lets go it will shatter the little cast bell housing, break the nose on the starter, bust off the fuel pump, fuel runs down in the beige, cuts some of the wiring harness to the ecm, sparks fly. i have even seen them catch on fire. And knock a hole in the bottom of the boat. Springs from the flex drive plate will even end up in the front off the boat. but the engine will be fine.

yes, the engine was bad after testing. they are putting in a new built as you could say. It is a bad one sent back then rebuilt. I heard those are better cause the cylinders are boared out.

We had our hammerhead replaced in an 06 LSV. The hours were not reset back to zero.

Also had a replacement engine in my MC 190 and they didn't reset the hours either.
