Spare Tire

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Seems like a bone-head question, but where do ya'll carry your spare tire?

When I bought my boat (86 Malibu Skier), the guy promised me a spare, but never showed up with it. As I look around my trailer, I can't really see where I'd carry it.... And, I get nervous traveling without a spare.

Pics or details would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Archie..

The best way to describe it is I have an post that you mount the spare tire - near the front of the trailer. This was an option when I ordered. my boat. Sorry all the pics I have are on the wrong side of my trailer. I've seen after market kits for trailers/spare tires.

You can probably buy a spare tire carrier that matches you trailer from your dealer or trailer manufacturer. It will clamp on near the front of the trailer. You can buy the spare wheel and tire from a tire dealer like TireDiscounters. Just make sure you get a wheel and tire that is meant for a boat trailer and not a car.

I thought about adding a spare tire attachment to the front of the trailer but I just chuck it in the back of the truck and put a cooler on top of it.

You can pick up a spare tire mount from a store like West Marine or Boaters World for $30 or $40. I bought one for my DHM trailer and it works great. They mount on the front of the trailer to either side of the bow.
