PCV Valve

Does anyone know if there should be a pcv valve on both valve covers on a 91 sunsetter? I took out what look like pcv valves but they do not have the little ball in them. Is this correct or should i get 2 new pcv valves?

I don't think we have pcv valves. I think the elbow is just a connection for fumes to go back to the air filter/carb.

Alright, just checking. My car mechanic said there should be pcv valves but that might be different on a boat.

No PCV valve is old school. They just never installed them because there was no regulation on boats for emissions.

I installed one on my '95 to eliminate the oil vapors and oil vapor film on the engine itself. There should be only one if you choose to install one. I have mine in the grommet on the right rear valve cover, and the vent goes up to the spark arrestor from the front left valve cover. PCV is Positive Crankcase Ventilation. The idea is to pull fresh air into the engine, throught the crankcase, and out the PCV valve and burn the fumes/vapors.

My engine now has no oil film on it. Clean and dry.
