Trailer Tire PSI Goodyear Marathons

Recommended Posts

I have a Boatmate SA trailer for my 2006 RLXi. The PSI written on the tires is 65 psi max. This is the max pressure but what is the recommended pressure for routine trailering? The tires are Goodyear Marathons.

Did you read the side of the tire? The GYMs on my last Boatmate said 50 psi max, even though the trailer said 65. If the sidewall says 50, I would NOT be running 65 psi.

You need to work on your reading comprehension.

Oops, sorry!. That's what I get for speed reading after being in a garage with kerosene fumes mixed with the smell of polish, wax, and new fiberglass. . .

Thanks for helping me out there, Michael. But even so, you can :biteme: anyway. :)

Last year there were quite a few posts regarding Marathon failures. I just read the following pdf http://www.goodyear.com/rv/pdf/marathon_gen_info_032806.pdf which may really clear up some issues. In particular, the speed rating thing. Also, the charts indicate using correct pressure for load, NOT necessarily max pressure. Is this info new?
