Shout-out for Boatmate Trailers

I just wanted to give props to Boatmate trailers for excellent customer service! I called Jerry at Boatmate early last week with a question about led lighting. While speaking with him I mentioned some rust problems I was having on my chrome modular wheels. (My trailer is an 06 and out of warranty) He told me that they had had a batch from his supplier with a problem back around that time and he asked me to email him some pics. I sent him some pics on Thursday of last week. He forwarded them to his supplier. On Monday I had 4 new wheels sitting on my front porch!

I have always loved my boatmate trailer and it is apparent that they really care about their customers.

They could easily have done nothing. I wanted to relay this experience along in case anyone out there is trying to decide between trailer brands. Boatmate makes an awesome product and really stands behind it. Thumbup.gif

Good to see they are maintaining their outstanding customer service. I had an issue a couple years ago with a leaky center cap on the oil bath hub on one side. Not being the original owner, I had no expectation that Boatmate was obligated to me at all. I was very up front with them on this fact, and just wanted to know if I could buy a part to fix the problem. They didn't question me at all - talked to me at length about a design change that occurred on the caps to ensure a better seal. He offered to send one to me no charge.

So I get the part, and it fixes the problem just fine. No question looking at the new design that it is better. But now I realize that it looks different than the other side. Keep in mind we're talking about a rather subtle appearance change, on a single axle trailer no less (can't see both sides at the same time). But what can I say? I can be a little on the particular side Innocent.gif I called Boatmate back up, and asked if I could buy another one so both sides would match. They said 'Nope, but we'll send you one for free'.

Now that is outstanding customer service. And they build a great trailer. I have no doubt that others make good ones too. And I know that you guys on the left coast swear by Extreme. But I will be happy to always give Boatmate my business. Thumbup.gif

My last boat sat on a BoatMate trailer, they were great to deal with when replacing our axle after an incident around some gas station pumps...

I love the Boatmate trailer under my boat, but I'm glad you posted as I have a little rust on my chrome wheels also. It seems to be mostly on the backside of the wheel so it isn't very noticable unless you really look. I wonder if their bad batch includes some '05 trailers as well.

It is possible. Mine had a problem where the wheels looked like they had a hazy substance, in spots, on the chrome that would not wash off. I noticed it after the first season. I thought maybe I had just gotten something on them. The only thing that would touch it was some 0000 steel wool. One of the wheels also had a lot of surface rust on it. I called Jerry at Boatmate on an unrelated matter and happened to mention my wheel problem. That is when he told me that his wheel supplier had had a problem with a batch of the chrome modular wheels in late 05/early 06. (my trailer was built in Feb. 06). He said the problem was with the clear coat peeling off. Jerry asked me to email him some pics and he would forward to his supplier to see if he would warranty them. Turns out that mine were taken care of. I actually hadn't looked at the back of the rims to check for rust there. When I swap mine out I will check.
