New Baby

We are just about to give birth to our first child. How quickly after the birth did you bring your new baby on your Bu to enjoy the water with you? How soon is too soon?

Is there anything that we should be aware of?

As point of background, we have an '08 23' LSV with a bimini top. I purchased a very simple 0-30lbs child life jacket.

Our pediatrician said no sunscreen for the first 6 months. The bimini top will help some but there is still the chance for a sunburn. Everyone will have a different opinion on this but we waited the 6 months (skin cancer runs in my wife's family).

The lifevest is obviously a must and we had the baby in the car seat while on the boat. That way she could nap and we didn't have to hold her the whole time. Also, make sure the baby doesn't get dehydrated in the heat of summer.

Congrats on the new baby. Can't really give you any advice on your questions except the lifejacket being a must. But however long you have to wait to get it on the boat, the wait will be worth it. My proudest day as a father was seeing my little one get up and ride a wakeboard. She is now totally addicted to the sport and being on the water. It sure makes my life easier with her loving the water as much as I do. Good luck and enjoy the ride!

We've had all of our babies on the boat within the first 3 months. Life-jacket is a must, as is the car seat for sleeping. We would also bring a baby tub filled with water for the little one to stay nice and cool.
