Time to Summerize my Boat

Recommended Posts

I bought a 2000 wakesetter with the V drive. I want to change all the fluids and filters, empellers, etc. It has a 383 Diamond Back engine. I know the oil and transmission fluid need changing. What type of oil should I use (brand and weight). What brand name transmission fluid do I buy? What type of fluid does the V drive require. My brother in law can spin a wrench and I have an oil extractor--I just need to buy the materials. Suggestions of what procedure and brand name of material would be appreciated. Please add any additional maintenance procedures you perform.

Thanks, John

I just went through this with the engine oil - my search yeilded that the majority of people use Castrol or Shell Rotillo (spelling) 15w40. If the manual recommends using Marine oil, it is not necessary. Good luck with the rest.
