what to order

I'm trying to decide between ordering a sportster lx and an i-ride. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on these two boats as far as wake comparison. The i-ride is the old wakesetter. By the way, my dealer doesn't have either of these two in stock, so I can't demo.

Where are you located?

Maybe a crew member could give you a demo... :)

I have a sporty....(sometimes referred to as a "swampy")

I'd have 2-3 people, mostly wakeboarding, some slalom.

Based on that & having it between the Sportster & the I-Ride, I'd say the I-Ride hands down.

Yes.gif With the one caveat that the Sporty is probably less $$$$ so if that is a consideration.....a Sporty with a wedge throws a very decent recreational wake. Pretty minimalistic as far as amenities go though.

So....?....Where are you located?

Okay, ya' got me on that one. Yeah, the Sporty is an incredible value. But....if you can step up to the I-Ride, you may not feel as compelled to upgrade as quickly.

I thought that the sporty was going to be gone for 06. I personally think the I ride would be the way to go as you said mostly wakeboard with some skiing. What type of skiing are we talking about, recreation or running the course at 32 off. If your running the course then maybe the Sunsetter LXI would be a better fit.

If it's mostly wakeboarding and some slalom, and you're looking for the most economical boat for the money, get the I ride. It'll slalom pretty well and wakeboard pretty well. It'll excel at neither.

Two very different boats. I have a Sporty which I love. In terms of size, handling and characteristics, its a hot boat that is the way ski boats used to be. You've got to be comfortable with a small boat with little storage or amenities. It's like a sports car. Don't buy one if you need a SUV.

I've been checking out an I Ride that has been in the dealer show room since the winter. Beautiful boat. Much bigger. Very deep. The gunwhales might be a foot higher than the top of the motor box. Very wide, long, lots of storage. Much better boat if you go out with a lot of adults and stay in the boat all day.

One of each would be the perfect combo for me. I think there's $7,000+- difference in price.

The wake of the IRide has to be a lot bigger than the Sportster. The IRide is massive compared to the Sporty.

I would definately take the I-Ride, but it is a lot more money. I guess what I am asking is is it worth 7,000? By the way I am in TN.

Unlike us, I think most normal people have the ability to step away from the pc.

define normal!

I have an iRide and am very pleased with it. The slalom wake is decent enough for me and those that ski with me. We're all pretty much just recreational skier's/boarders, but do attempt the course on occasion.

I purchased it because it offers a lot of room, both in the boat and storage, and provides enough of a wakeboard wake for us with the wedge and 500 lbs of center ballast. Of course, the wake is much better with 2-3 200 people in the back. And, as I mentioned the slalom wake is sufficient for our use.

We previuosly skied with a buddies 81 Nautique so you can imagine how much we enjoy the iRide. The Nautique is a great little boat, but LITTLE is the key word. We always had it loaded up pretty good with people, coolers and gear. It still runs great but is just too small.

I really don't know anything about the Sporty so I'm afraid I can't offer any kind of valid comparison.

The sportster is no longer in production, so it looks like an I-Ride. The good news is there may be one coming in next week, so I may buy it.
