Woohoo!! just talked to Chee

Recommended Posts

Just got the phone with Chee and I'll be putting my check in the mail today.

I had been putting off ordering new vinyl since I figured it would be pretty expensive to get everything re-covered. Well, my bonus came in and I figured what-the-heck.

Put a call into Chee and how quoted my significantly less than I expected! Now I can't wait to get them!

I've got a pretty extensive spring cleaning list anyways. I'll have plenty to keep me busy until they arrive.

What's the typical turn-around for Chee anyways?

What year boats will this guy do? Will he supply replacement skins for newer boats?? Would be nice to know if the need ever came up.

Chee turned mine around in 2 weeks (but I shipped him my $ and request in January). I'd imagine he probably is getting a lot of requests at this time since season is approaching.

I've been told by Malibu that a person can get replacement skins directly from the factory for boats 8 years old and newer. Any older than that and you would need to contact Chee or via other means. (Again, that's just what I was told by Malibu, but I could be wrong). It's possible that Chee could do newer boats, but I'd contact Malibu directly and see what they charge for new skins.

Chee runs the vinyl shop at the Merced Ca. plant. Your vinyl skins will be made from the same vinyl material that is used in the '08 Malibu boats.

Malibu stocks the patterns and vinyl for seven model years. So if you have a boat that is a 2001 or older you could call Chee and have him make them. Chee is the sewing department guru for the CA plant.
