Turn down(silent tip exhaust)

We are looking at an 07 VTX and it is currently without the turn down(silent tip exhaust) and we wanted to know what exactly are they for ? So far my understanding of them is this.

They reduce the noise and they make it so you can surf behind the boat without dieing from the boat fumes. So what I am asking is, is my understanding correct should we have them added and can we still surf behind the boat without them?

Thanks

Should be fine without them. The Cats help more than anything. For a Monsoon or 320 I would not worry about the silent tip exhaust. If it were a HammerHead I would consider it for reduced noise. Unless you are into the noise!

There are thousands more boats without than with. You'll be fine. We've surfed behind many boats without them and haven't died from it yet.

+1

My boat doesn't have them and no one has died. Maybe lost a few brain cells along the way, but that's another story...lol Biggrin.gif

I would be extremely surprised and highly skeptical if the STEs did anything at all to reduce the amount of CO at the back of the boat. They are nothing more than a type of baffle - whatever CO goes in must also come out. You should only be considering them for the amount of noise reduction they offer, and whether that is important enough for you to affect your decision.

Ya there is no reduction in CO there just quieter when cruzing around
