Relocate depth sounder

I'm needing info on what to use when relocating the sending unit on a depth sounder? It is a through the hull unit. Can I just use regular epoxy ? Thanks for anyones help!

When I mounted mine in my old sunsetter, I used standard epoxy.

Here's what I did:

1. Mount temporarily with duct tape (can use silicon for more secure test) and run the boat in the lake to ensure I have found a good placement that works well.

2. Rough up the area with sandpaper.

3. Clean the area with alcohol to remove dust and oil residue.

4. Mix epoxy very thick, being careful to NOT create lots of air bubbles (they affect the sounder accuracy).

5. Let it thicken as necessary so it will not run when you position it.

6. Apply a large dollop of epoxy to the chosen/prepared mounting location being sure to fill in any voids between fiberglass fibers and reduce number of bubbles.

7. Slowly insert sounder into epoxy and hold or tape into place until it cures sufficiently to maintain its position for drying.
