Infamous HDS leak

Well, I’ve started the process.  I made the “log” out of fiberglass/resin tonight.  I guess I will proceed with the glassing of the box and securing the log.  A little nervous about doing this, since it seems very permanent, should it not work.

it appears in the pictures that u only glass/epoxy the very base of the HDS box and up onto the walls.  I assume that u have to be sure to not cover the bolts for the strut and what not?

If you are going to glass in a log, why not just glass the HDS box and be done?

^ So you just bought the angled shaft log and installed it and didn't fool with all that fiberglass/epoxy work?  I have a 2001 Malibu Response LX that has this water problem I am needing to fix.

Yes, but I paid a professional to cut / epoxy / glass the log in. I’d upload photos if I knew how too...appears only photos on alternate domains can be sourced?

^ that’s what I wish I’d just done now. I finally got the log glassed in and the entire box glassed and leak free, but it took several go’s to get it right.
