Slalom Video on DVD

Can anyone recommend a good instructional video that is available on DVD? I've heard about Gordon Rathbaun's video, but I couldn't find it on DVD? Any other good ones out there that cover all levels of slalom skiing? Thanks.

rk, it depends on what level you're looking for. Gordon's Beginning Slalom and his 12 Drills are both excellent, but not available in DVD format. I asked him whether he would put some out, but he said he was working on an all new instructional DVD that was going to be even better and also feature the new Ski Paradise Villa that is newly completed and ready for the upcoming season starting in November. Therefore, you'll have to get his previous ones in VHS and copy your own. He said that would be OK as long as it was for you only obviously, and not sold.

Andy's and Drew's both feature great skiing, but two different approaches on the instructional part...new vs old school. Both get a little technical, but the skiing and music on Drew's is better. I was a little disappointed in Andy's...kind of slow.

Believe it or not, one of the best instructional videos I've seen for beginners up to trying the course for the first time, is an old one by Mike Suyderhoud with Bob LaPoint called Slalom Clinic done in 1990. Considering its age, it is exceptionally done and very helpful if you can find a copy.

I hate to agree with Hank, but I'll have to ditto the above in it's entirety. And, Hank, are you referencing 'Advanced' Slalom Clinic? I think they made two movies, BICBW and can't check the year on my copy just now. Though this video obviously predates West Coast style, I think it is excellent for gaining a technical understanding of the sport.
