panels separating engine from bins

Has anyone cut holes in their engine/bin side panels (say a few 2" holes) to let the heat from the engine into the bin to keep stuff in the bin dry and warm?

Does anyone see a problem in doing this?

You'll get a little noise. I drilled some holes in mine to run a few hoses through for my ballast tanks. Have had no problems. Used bulkhead fittings so I can easily remove the hoses when I gotta get those panels out.
