Ignition on with engine off

Recommended Posts

The other day I was messing with the cruise control on my sporty with the ignition on but the engine off. I'm assuming the boat doesn't have points or anything else to burnout by leaving the ignition on without the engine, but I thought I'd double check. It's a 2001 Sporty with the 310 Carb. The cruise is not powered in the accessory position so its either on or off.

Thanks

TLo

The ignition coil was powered up that whole time but, it's not a problem as long as you didn't have any sort of battery charger on the battery. Also, on some boats, having the ignition on w/the engine off makes the hour meter run. You might wanna have a look at what your hours are reading now.
